2014 MONOTHON printing

Dedicated to the Art of the Print

 Letter from the Executive Director

The 2014 MONOTHON printing sessions have taken place, and our artists are putting the final touches on the works that they are donating to the MONOTHON Silent Auction and Benefit taking place on Saturday, November 8th, from 6-9pm, at Lillian August Flagship headquarters on Knight Street in Norwalk, Connecticut.  This event is not to be missed.  MONOTHON brings guests/artists/collectors and friends from around the world to celebrate CCP and to raise crucial funds to support the Center and its activities.

There are numerous ways to contribute to the Center for Contemporary Printmaking. You can become a CCP member, renew your membership, donate to our Annual Appeal, and support the Grace Shanley Memorial Scholarship Fund.  You can also donate your time and energy to this treasured printmaking facility that is committed to supporting and encouraging serious, emerging, and professional artists in the creation of original prints.  You can be a valuable part of CCP's future success.  We welcome your engagement.

As we prepare to celebrate our 20th Anniversary in 2015, we hope that you will expand your commitment to the Center.  If you are new to the Center, we hope that you will share your talents and insights with us.  Opportunities to pursue your interests abound at CCP.  The camaraderie at the Center is palpable.  It is easy to connect or reconnect if you have been away for awhile.  Please contact us at 203-899-7999.  I look forward to seeing you soon at CCP - 299 West Avenue, Norwalk, Connecticut.

Laura G. Einstein, Executive Director

The party is open to the public; tickets are $50/person in advance and $60 at the door. Contact CCP at 203.899.7999 or jakers@contemprints.org to purchase tickets in advance.  Visit our website for more details

In addition to the works created by artists featured in the silent auction, our MONOTHON Committee has secured works by renowned artists and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to be featured during the live auction.

Here are just a few of the items that will be auctioned at the event:

Pacific Patterns I, by Sarah Amos, Collagraph with gouache and mixed med

Sarah Amos, Pacific Patterns I, Collagraph

Sarah Amos is an Australian printmaker currently based in Vermont.  Her process of richly layered
printmaking, punctuated by over painting with dynamic patterns, create vibrant and highly collectable works.  Her prints are created by hand on a large etching press, where she frequently combines etchings, monoprints and collagraph plates to make the final printed surface. Pacific Patterns measures 17" x 12" and is 24.25" x 24.25" framed.

CCP Giving Back to the Community

On Monday evening, October 21st, CCP wrapped up the MONOTHON printing sessions with the annual Outreach MONOTHON. Thanks to a generous donation from the Bershaw Family Fund, thirteen children from the Norwalk Housing Authority Learning Center at 20 West Avenue, participated in an enrichment program introducing each student to printmaking. During three art-filled hours, students watched a monotype demonstration by Staff Master Printer Christopher Shore, and then began to ink and print their own works of art. Students made numerous monotypes. One of these works from each student was selected for CCP's Silent Auction on November 8th at our MONOTHON Auction & Party. We are grateful to the Bershaw family and to the Norwalk Housing Authority Learning Center for a successful and fun-filled printing session.
